Recap
Clyde made it five wins in succession after a dominant display against Stirling Albion at a rainy Forthbank this afternoon.
Darren Young reverted to the team which picked up three points last Saturday against Edinburgh City, with Tommy Robson recovering from his knock.
Clyde started brightly and had a great chance inside the opening minute through Kyle Connell but he dragged his effort wide of goal with the target at his mercy.
The frontman and James Hilton then forced Derek Gaston into routine stops, before the latter saw a further shot hit the side netting.
At the other end Chris Eadie and Robbie McNab both came close for the visitors, but were unable to direct their efforts on target.
Midway through the half Clyde played a short free-kick to Marley Redfern, who cut in and shot, but it was saved by again by Gaston. Connell then set Hilton up and he took aim, but his vicious shot whistled just past the post.
The Bully Wee eventually took a deserved lead in the 41st minute as Hilton released Connell down the right flank. He held off his man and played the ball across to Redfern who slotted the ball away beyond Gaston.
Clyde doubled their advantage just four minutes later on the stroke of the interval. Good skill from Redfern on the halfway lined allowed Andy Murdoch to drive down the left wing and slide the ball across the box to the back post where Hilton glided in to place past Gaston.
The visitors continued the pressure upon the restart with Craig Howie missing the target with a free header and Gaston pulling off a fine stop to deny Hilton. Connell then went one-on-one with a run from halfway but the ‘keeper denied him once more.
A third goal eventually came in the 65th minute as Redfern grabbed his brace. Darren Hynes sent an inch perfect ball towards the right and Connell played it back across to the winger who took a touch to compose himself and swept it beyond the ‘keepers reach for his sixth goal in the month of September.
The Binos then mounted a rare attack and Jay Hogarth stayed alert to pull off a big save one-on-one from Eadie.
Scott Williamson then got on the scoresheeet eight minutes from time. A pinpoint floated ball from captain Murdoch found the striker who cushioned the ball and took on Kyle Banner, before cutting in at the corner of the box and curled a rocket of a strike into the top corner leaving Gaston with no chance.
Taylor Sutherland then had the ball in the back of the net but the assistant referee flagged for offside, and Clyde finished the match slackly as Russell McLean netted a quickfire brace for Stirling in the last couple of minutes.
