For the second time this season, The Bully Wee and The Binos had to settle for a 1-1 draw, following today’s Ladbrokes League 2 match at Broadwood.

Barry Ferguson made one change to his starting line-up after last week’s cup win at Brora, with Martin McNiff returning to take the place of David Gormley.

Although Clyde started the match brightly and in the ascendency, it was Stirling that took an early lead with 9 minutes on the clock. A deep cross from the left wing reached Marc McKenzie at the back post and the midfielder’s volley found the net, despite John Gibson getting a hand to the shot.

The Bully Wee were soon back on the front foot though and Peter MacDonald forced Albion ‘keeper Chris Smith into a good save, with a powerful shot from 25 yards out.

The same player then had another decent chance, as an inswinging cross from the left found his head, but he couldn’t get the correct type of connection on the ball to divert it on target.

After 29 minutes, MacDonald finally got his goal to make it 1-1. Phil Johnston did well on the right wing and his cross was met by the striker, who found the net with an excellent looping header.

Around 10 minutes into the second half, Clyde had their best chance to take the lead. Scott McLaughlin’s long pass released Ewan McNeil on the right and his cross reached Sean Higgins in the box, but the top scorer’s effort was deflected and eventually clawed away by Smith.

Shortly after that, The Binos had a fine chance of their own, but Isaac Layne put the ball over the bar after creating space for himself in the penalty area.

Although the match was swinging from end to end, there weren’t too many clear-cut chances in the closing period. MacDonald had another chance from close range when Scott Linton’s long throw eventually reached him at the back post, but his shot from a tight angle just missed the target.
