Recap
The Bully Wee are now officially relegated to the Third Division, after a home defeat to Stirling this evening.
It’s a result that also keeps the Binos in the title hunt, but for long periods of the match there was little between the sides.
The visitors opened the scoring after four minutes with their first attack and once again it could be put in the "soft" category from Clyde’s point of view. Willie McLachlan (left) lost out in a tackle and the resultant cross was not dealt with, allowing Robertson to head home.
The Bully Wee came back into the match though, playing some good stuff on the ground and getting a deserved equaliser after 20 minutes. Aleks Gramovics showed some class in midfield to start the move and his long pass was headed back to Willie Sawyers, who finished brilliantly on the turn.
Seconds later, however, Stirling had a glorious chance to regain the lead when they were awarded a penalty, but Callum Reidford pulled off a fine save from ex-Broadwood man Chris Aitken.
The second half started in an end-to-end fashion, but the Binos gradually started pushing Clyde back as they desperately looked for the three points. They did little to trouble Reidford though, but eventually got their reward with ten minutes left to play. A floated cross was met by Iain Russell in the box and he flicked a header past the advancing Reidford and into the corner of the net, to the delight of the away fans.
The Bully Wee just didn’t seem to have the legs to mount a comeback after that and, despite another spirited display overall, left the field knowing that the league’s bottom spot had been confirmed.
