Recap
The Bully Wee lifted silverware this afternoon by winning the inaugural Broadwood Cup after a 3-0 victory over Stirling Albion.
Clyde raced into an early lead again with just over a minute gone after Martin McNiff got on the end of Jay Henderson’s corner and stooped to head into the net.
David Goodwillie looked certain to double the lead when he was played through on goal and rounded Stirling ‘keeper Cammy Binnie, but was tripped in the process. The referee deemed the foul to have taken place right outside the box, and showed Binnie a straight red card for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity.
A second goal did come four minutes before half-time when Ally Love’s cross across the box was knocked down by Martin McNiff into the path of Henderson, who blasted the ball home.
The win was secured as the game entered the final minute. Josh Jack played a superb ball through to Henderson from deep, and he in turned squared to Goodwillie, who made no mistake with his finish.
