Clyde secured an important three points today, following an entertaining match played in front of a crowd of over 900 at Broadwood.

Jim Duffy made several changes to the team that lost to Annan last week. New signings Jamie Lyden and Kevin Nicoll both started, with Gavin Brown, Iain Gray, Ryan MacBeth and Stuart McColm all also added.

The Bully Wee took the lead after 21 minutes, through an excellent goal. John Sweeney’s pass released Gavin Brown and the full-back’s fine cross was met by Stef McCluskey, who did well to stab the ball into the net from close range.

At the other end, Jamie Barclay was forced into a great save when he pushed a header away from the top corner.

Before half-time, Sweeney came close to doubling the advantage but his shot from the edge of the box sailed just wide of the post.

The second half saw the match continue to be played in an open fashion and the visitors scored an equaliser just after the hour mark. Jordan White met a corner at the near post and his header bundled into the net after Barclay got a touch to it but couldn’t keep it out.

However, moments later Clyde were back in front. Kevin Watt’s dangerous cross into the box was met by Sweeney and his shot found the roof of the net, also via a touch by the ‘keeper.

There were further chances at either end before the final whistle; Albion sub Sandy Cunningham couldn’t keep the ball on target from close range, with Stuart McColm missing a great chance to convert a McCluskey cross.
