The Bully Wee came from behind to win on the road for the first time in eleven months this afternoon, recording a 3-2 victory over table toppers Stirling Albion at Forthbank.

Jim Chapman shuffled his pack and made five changes, bringing Currie, Breslin and Wright back into the starting XI, alongside debutant Andy Munro, and Mark Burbidge, who made his first start.

It was former Clyde striker Peter MacDonald who opened the scoring inside 11 minutes. Darren Smith broke down the left wing and hit a low cross into the penalty area, which MacDonald bundled home from close range.

David Goodwillie thought he had scored after a corner, but the referee ruled it out following an off the ball incident. Goodwillie was not to be denied for much longer, as he got on the end of a long ball from Jordan Stewart, drove into the box and poked the ball across ‘keeper Cammy Binnie, into the corner of the net for the equaliser.

Clyde started the second half well and took the lead just two minutes after the interval. Jack Breslin’s pinpoint cross found Mark Burbidge in the box, and the winger had time to get the ball out from his feet, before curling a shot on target. Binnie did get a hand to it but couldn’t stop the ball rustling into the net.

The Binos drew level on the hour mark and another ex-Clyde man played a part. Ewan McNeil sent in a cross from the by-line which evaded the Bully Wee defence, and Callum Morrison was at hand to prod the ball home from a few yards out.

The Bully Wee tried to regain the lead and David Goodwillie was unlucky to see a good individual effort cleared off the line. Mark Lamont, who came off the bench for his debut, also had a shot which just whistled past the post.

The deciding goal came after 79 minutes; Goodwillie played a lovely through ball to Barry Cuddihy, who glided into the box and fired home past Binnie.

Stirling tried to hit back in the last 10 minutes but Blair Currie was a commanding presence in the Clyde goal. Goodwillie, who ran the home defence ragged, almost sealed the game in stoppage time but his effort came off the post.

The chance was not to be rued however, as the referee blew the final whistle shortly after, signalling Clyde’s first away win since the trip to Brora Rangers in October 2016.
