Recap
Stirling Albion are now in pole position in the race to reach the First Division, following a workmanlike victory over the Bully Wee this afternoon.
Neil Watt had to make changes to the team when Adam Strachan was ruled out through illness before the match and suffered a further blow when Neil McGowan limped off injured after 25 minutes.
Almost immediately, Clyde lost what was to prove to be the decisive goal when Robertson was afforded a free header and he placed the ball past Callum Reidford.
All in all, it was a lacklustre half of football, with Clyde failing to test the home ‘keeper and the Binos only really creating one more clear-cut chance; Iain Russell heading wide.
Stirling continued to dominate territory after the break, again without troubling the Bully Wee defence much. The match finally burst into life in the last 10 minutes though, with Clyde throwing caution to the wind.
That led to excellent chances for Steven Howarth and Jordan White, but a good save from Christie and a misplaced header respectively kept the scoreline at 1-0. The hosts could also have finished the match off on the counter, but were left happy with the single goal win after hearing of Alloa’s demise at Peterhead.
