Recap
A first half goal from David Goodwillie earned The Bully Wee an important three points at Forthbank this evening.
Kieran Duffie, making his first Ladbrokes League 2 start of the season, was one of three changes Danny Lennon made to the team, with Jack Boyle and Goodwillie also returning to the starting line-up.
Goodwillie and John Rankin both tested Calum Ferrie in the opening stages from distance, but the Stirling Albion keeper was equal to their efforts.
The Binos then came close to opening the scoring following a counter attack. Darren Smith broke down the left and hit a low shot which Blair Currie was able to parry, and then Martin McNiff made an important block from the rebound.
The only goal of the game came in the 18th minute, when Rankin hit a shot from outside the box. The ball then deflected off a home defender, and fell into the path of Goodwillie, who composed himself and slotted past Ferrie from close range.
Ex-Clyde man Max Wright then tried his luck with a free-kick from the edge of the area, but Currie pulled off a good save to turn the effort behind for a corner.
Goodwillie almost doubled his tally before the interval after jinking his way into the box, but was unable to find a way past Ferrie after a stramash in the area.
Goodwillie came close again early in the second half, cutting inside and hitting a curling shot which Ferrie tipped behind. From the resulting corner Scott Rumsby powered a header just past the post.
The Bully Wee preserved their one goal lead and saw the remainder of the match out in a professional manner, to extend their unbeaten run to 15 games.
