Recap
The points were shared at Broadwood this afternoon as a last minute equaliser saw Clyde pick up a 2-2 draw in an entertaining match against Glasgow rivals Queen’s Park in cinch League 1.
Danny Lennon made a few changes to his starting 11, with Euan Deveney making his debut, Elsdon returning from suspension with Robert Jones and Aaron Splaine coming into the side.
The first half got off to slow start, with only Simon Murray and Robert Jones testing the keepers in the first 20 minutes, but Parry and Muir made comfortable saves.
The visitors hit the bar not long after, as a shot from a tight angle looked to have beat Parry but came back off the woodwork and Deveney managed to clear the danger.
Clyde then took the lead through a superb goal through David Goodwillie. The striker got on the end of a long ball into the box, lobbed the ball over a defender before then also lobbing Willie Muir to score the opening goal.
Goodwillie could have made it two before the beak, but he fired his effort from inside the box over the bar after Balatoni knocked the ball down to him.
The game flipped on its head in the early stages of the second half. Louis Longridge found himself with space at the edge of the box and hit a low effort towards goal which somehow sneaked its way into the net past Parry to level the score.
Only 2 minutes later, the visitors took the lead after the referee pointed to the spot when Rumsby was deemed to have made a foul while challenging for a header. Parry guessed the right way but Grant Gillespe’s spot kick found the net.
Both teams had chances as the half went on. Balatoni was inches away from tapping the ball into the net from close range as a corner was just out of his reach at the back post, before Bob McHugh struck the post for The Spiders and Simon Murray fired the rebound wide.
Clyde then found themselves with a golden opportunity to level the scores again with time running out, when the referee pointed to the spot after Willie Muir clattered into the back of Gregory Tade who had just come off the bench to make his second debut for the club. Goodwillie stepped up but chipped the penalty over the bar.
The drama didn’t end there, as Tade won a free kick in a dangerous area. Deveney found Jones in the box and his header came back off the bar, but Jones done well to knock the ball back across goal and after a stramash Goodwillie ran away celebrating as he managed to get the ball over the line in the last minute.
There was one last chance for The Bully Wee when Goodwillie drove forward and played the ball into Andrew in the box, but Muir produced an excellent save to deny Andrew the winning goal and both sides left Broadwood with a point.
