Recap
Clyde lost out in the Glasgow derby at Broadwood this afternoon, as The Spiders left Cumbernauld with a deserved three points.
In blustery conditions, both sides found it difficult to find a rhythm in the early stages but the visitors passed up a golden opportunity to take the lead after half an hour.
Former Clyde man Paul Stewart’s poor penalty – awarded after a foul by Lee Sharp – was saved by Felip Mentel.
At the other end, The Bully Wee almost scored before half-time when Declan Gallagher hit the post from close range, with the rebound also being scrambled clear by the away defence.
After the break, there was a flurry of activity which saw Clyde create three fine chances to take the lead. Sweeney, Cusack and McDonald were all stopped by Neil Parry from close range within the space of five minutes.
Jim Duffy’s men were to pay for those misses as Queen’s then began to take control of the midfield area and subsequently the match in general.
Michael Daly and Jamie Longworth both came close, but both men went on to score late goals that settled the match.
Longworth blasted home following good work by David Murray on the right wing, before Daly coolly rounded Mentel and tapped into an empty net after a lovely passing move.
