Recap
Clyde suffered another frustrating trip to the National Stadium today, as The Spiders claimed a single-goal victory thanks to Ian Watt’s long-range strike.
Jim Duffy made one change to the team that faced Annan before the International break, with John Kane replacing Lee Sharp at left-back.
The hosts, who enjoyed the better of the opening exhanges, took the lead with a fine goal. Ian Watt found himself in space 25 yards out and he put a looping shot past Jamie Barclay and into the corner of the net.
The Bully Wee were finding clear-cut chances hard to come by, but when David Marsh’s header was cleared away from the back post the referee and his assistant ignored claims that the ball had crossed the line.
Early in the second half, Clyde had another chance to level when Kevin Watt’s cross caused problems, but Paul Hay couldn’t find the target when the ball broke to him at the edge of the box.
Queen’s Park offered less of an attacking threat as the match progressed, but they were successful in limiting Clyde to only a few efforts on goal.
Substitute Stef McCluskey was unlucky to see his low shot just miss the far post and John Sweeney dragged a shot wide from just outside the box as the home side held on for all three points.
