Recap
Clyde slumped to a seventh consecutive defeat to The Spiders this evening, following a highly disappointing showing at the national stadium.
With a number of injury worries to contend with, Jim Duffy brought under-19 squad members Kieran Daw and John Carrick into bench slots, with Brian McQueen and Michael Oliver returning to the starting line-up.
However, the match started terribly for The Bully Wee and the hosts found themselves two goals up within ten minutes of play. Both goals came from similar positions on the right flank, with Jamie Longworth and Ian Watt providing the close-range finishes.
It turned out to be a very poor first half display by Clyde, with no threat offered to the home goal at all as Queen’s totally dominated.
After the break, there was some improvement and John Neill missed a fine chance to reduce the deficit when his header came back off the outside of the post. Jamie Pollock also saw an effort from distance flash past the woodwork.
With time running out, there was a bright introduction for Daw in the forward area but the Hampden club sealed a comfortable victory with a last-minute strike courtesy of Martin McBride.
