Recap
Clyde lost out at the National Stadium tonight, as The Spiders secured their fifth win in a row over The Bully Wee.
On a night of wild weather in Glasgow, the Hampden pitch stood up very well to the conditions and it was an early sequence of play that was to have a huge bearing on the outcome of the match.
With only minutes on the clock, Jordan White created space – and a great chance – for himself with a neat turn, but his shot was blocked by Neil Parry in the home goal.
The miss was to prove even more costly, as the home side went straight up the park and scored. Pat Scullion made an error which led to Sean Burns having a simple task from around eight yards.
In terms of general play, Clyde could have felt unlucky to be behind at the half-time break, especially after White hit the bar with a header.
The second half saw an early chance for Liam Cusack at the back post following a delivery into the box, but a second goal for The Spiders effectively killed the game off. Craig Smith headed the ball home after Ian Watt got the better of two Clyde players on the right wing.
To finish off a miserable night for a strong Clyde support in the 402 crowd, Michael Daly got away from Scullion and headed in a third goal, which trialist ‘keeper David Crawford got a hand to but couldn’t keep out.
