Recap
Clyde secured consecutive league victories for the first time since December 2021 as a Jordan Allan brace earned a narrow win over 10-mqn Elgin City.
Ian McCall named an unchanged starting lineup from last weekend’s victory over Stenhousemuir with Peter Grant, Darren Hynes and Jaze Kabia returning to the bench after recovering from injury.
The Bully Wee went agonisingly close seconds after kick-off when Liam Scullion’s shot from the centre of the box looked destined for the bottom corner, but McHale was quick to parry.
Clyde were awarded a free-kick in the tenth minute after Barry Cuddihy was fouled at the edge of the box, but Alex King’s attempt was blocked.
Scullion was yet again denied by the ‘keeper in the 18th minute after his effort from a couple of yards was saved as the hosts enjoyed the majority of possession in the early stages.
Elgin then carved their first opportunity of the afternoon shortly before the half hour mark after Russell Dingwall connected onto the ball across the goalmouth, but Brian Kinnear crouched low to collect.
However, it was the visitors who broke the deadlock in the 34th minute. Dolzanski cottoned onto Dingwall’s corner-kick and powered a header beyond the ‘keeper from deep inside the box.
The Black and Whites almost doubled their lead immediately after the restart when Dangana waded into the box and fired a shot from the right hand side, only for his effort to be blocked by Kinnear.
Meanwhile, at the other end, Jordan Allan muscled his way into the box, but his attempted was blocked. However, the forward would redeem himself by firing home Clyde’s equaliser in the 53rd minute. Robbie Leitch, rather than rounding past two defenders opted to poke the ball into the path of Allan, who made no mistake with a powerful shot which curled into the top left corner.
The Bully Wee then found themselves in front three minutes after going level. Jaze Kabia sent a high-arching cross deep inside the box, which fell straight into the vicinity of Allan, enabling him to rifle the ball beyond McHale from close range.
Despite going behind, Elgin were intent in creating chances to force proceedings back to level terms with two attempts in the space of two minutes. However, Ross Draper’s header from inside the box flew wide, while Gallagher’s effort careered off target.
The Bully Wee then came close to a third in the 65th minute when Allan gestured to Cuddihy to allow him to create a shot at goal, but McHale was on-guard to deny his shot from inside the box.
Kabia then tried his luck with a long-arching shot in the 72nd minute, only for the ball to land straight at McHale.
With the clock reaching the final five minutes of normal time, Dolzanski came close to an equaliser for the visitors with a seemingly goalbound header, only to be denied by Leitch on the line.
Former Clyde player Robert Jones had the ball in the net in the 87th minute, but it was ruled offside while Dolzanski was issued with a second yellow and subsequent red card in the fourth minute of stoppage time as The Bully Wee held on to secure another vital three points.
