Recap
A long midweek journey didn’t produce a positive result for The Bully Wee tonight, as Elgin came from behind to claim all the points at Borough Briggs.
Marc McCusker, Kieran McGachie and Sean Fitzharris were all added to the team that defeated East Stirling on Saturday, as McCluskey, Watt and McColm dropped out.
The match started well for Clyde, with McGachie grabbing his first goal for the club after 23 minutes, heading home from a corner.
However, at the other end, City’s big striker Paul Millar was causing the Clyde defence problems and his header was well saved by Barclay. It wasn’t long until he scored though, equalising on the half hour mark after meeting a free-kick delivery into the box.
The Bully Wee came close to scoring again before half-time, but Calum Fordyce’s header was cleared as it made its way towards goal.
Not long into the second half, two goals in quick succession gave the home side full control of the match. The first was an overhead kick by Gunn, with the second coming via Iain Gray as he tried to clear a cross.
Substitute Stef McCluskey had a couple of chances to get Clyde back into the game before any doubt was ended as Millar scored again, in similar fashion to his first goal.
There was a late consolation for Clyde though, as McGachie pounced on a loose ball in the Elgin penalty area to net his second goal of the evening.
