The Bully Wee produced an encouraging comeback at a rain-swept Broadwood this evening, as an entertaining Third Division match ended with both sides claiming a point.

Jim Duffy made three changes to the side that lost at Nairn last week, with Sean Fitzharris and Bryan Gilfillan coming into the team – as well as the surprise addition of Michael Oliver at the heart of the defence.

It was the visitors that started the match strongly and, as they controlled the majority of the opening period, raced into a two-goal lead. Jamie Duff got the first when the blasted the ball into the net from the edge of the box, after a corner wasn’t fully cleared by the Clyde defence.

The second came via the head of David Niven, who found space in the box and was able to place the ball just inside the near post and past Jamie Barclay.

However, just before half-time, a fine goal at the other end changed the perspective of the match. Fitzharris showed some good skill to beat his man on the right wing and his floated cross was met impressively by Stuart McColm, who found the bottom corner of the net.

A much-improved Clyde went on to equalise ten minutes after the break. Fitzharris was involved again as his direct run into the away box was halted by two Elgin defenders, resulting in a penalty award. John Sweeney stepped up and finished well from the spot to make it 2-2.

The rest of the second half was an enjoyable watch, with both sides coming close to finding a winning goal. Craig Gunn was unlucky to see his 25-yard shot hit the bar, while Bryan Gilfillan thought he had scored when he volleyed the ball home from close range, only to see the assistant referee flagging for offside.
