Recap
There was late drama at Shielfield this afternoon, as David Goodwillie scored from the penalty spot with the last kick of the game against Berwick Rangers, to extend The Bully Wee’s excellent run of victories to four in a row.
New signing Chris McStay made his debut in place of Ally Love, and Dylan Cogill also made his first start, taking over from Jordan Stewart, who was suffering with illness.
McStay was impressive in the opening stages and he set up Barry Cuddihy who hit a low shot from outside the box, which Robby McCrorie tipped behind for a corner.
McStay then had an effort himself shortly after. He flicked the ball over the head of his opponent and hit a dipping shot which look destined for the top corner, but McCrorie again got his hand to the ball.
At the other end Blair Currie made a good stop from a powerful Steven Thomson drive.
Thomson then had a free-kick on target comfortably held by Currie in what turned out to be a very stuffy second half.
Clyde rallied late on and substitute Ray Grant crossed for Goodwillie but again his shot was turned behind by McCrorie, and from the resultant corner a volley from Mark Lamont went narrowly over the bar.
Deep into stoppage time Goodwillie collected the ball and drove into the box, and was tripped by Berwick defender Robert Wilson. Goodwillie dusted himself down and staggered his run up, before confidently rolling the ball past McCrorie from twelve yards, into the back of the net.
As Goodwillie rushed to celebrate with his teammates and backroom staff in front of a jubilant away support, the referee blew his final whistle, meaning that there was no time to restart the game.
