Recap
Clyde’s unbeaten run came to an end in England today, as Berwick Rangers secured a comfortable League Two victory at Shielfield Park.
Jim Duffy made three changes to the team that faced Stirling last week, with Iain Gray, Ryan Frances and Pat Scullion replacing Fraser McGhee, Brian McQueen and the suspended Michael Daly.
Clyde started well and could have taken an early lead when Neil Janczyk’s free kick was met by Frances at the back post, but his header went inches wide with the home ‘keeper beaten.
Stuart McColm also had a chance after being put clear by a Kieran MacDonald pass but, with other options available, the winger opted to shoot and his effort was saved comfortably.
In general, the match was being contested in midfield but the hosts produced the best moment of the half as Jamie Barclay was forced into a fine stop.
After the break, Berwick showed greater urgency and took control of proceedings. That led to an opening goal after 57 minutes when Darren Lavery scored with a cracking volley from edge of the box following a corner.
As The Wee Rangers continued to dominate the midfield, the lead was doubled on 76 minutes as a low shot from Lee Currie from outside the box evaded the Clyde defence.
After The Bully Wee had a goal ruled out for offside, Berwick sealed the victory as Currie took advantage of a contentious free kick award to catch out Barclay from 25 yards.
