Clyde suffered a disappointing result in League Two this afternoon, as three second half goals sealed a comfortable victory for Berwick Rangers.
Barry Ferguson made two changes to the team following last week’s match at Hampden Park, with Scott Ferguson and Stephen O’Donnell replacing David Sinclair and David Gray.
The first half was a closely fought affair, with both sides having a couple of good chances to score. For Clyde, Scott Durie’s low cross just needed a touch but missed everyone in the box and Scott McManus forced William Bald into a good stop from close range, after the striker stretched to meet Brian McQueen’s cross.
At the other end, Alan Martin also pulled off a good block from close range and Andrew Russell curled a shot just past the post from the edge of the box.
As The Bully Wee failed to create any chances at the start of the second half, the visitors grew in confidence and took the lead after 66 minutes. Darren Lavery provided the finish, tapping in at the back post after getting on the end of a low cross from the right flank.
The Wee Gers scored two more goals before the end of the match as Clyde’s attempt to produce a comeback fizzled out. Steven Notman was credited with the final touch as the ball found the net from a corner and Lavery scored again with a shot from just outside the box to complete a valuable win for his team.
