Recap
A disappointing League Two match at Shielfield Park ended in a goalless draw this afternoon; a result that makes a late bid for a play-off spot unlikely for both clubs.
Barry Ferguson named the same starting line-up after back-to-back wins, with Scott Ferguson and Keigan Parker returning from injury to take a place on the bench.
As the match started in blustery conditions and on the traditional bumpy pitch at Shielfield, it soon became clear that the quality of football was not going to be high.
For the hosts, Chris Dillon’s deflected shot went just over the bar before Scott McManus saw his header held by Michael Andrews.
Berwick finished the half on top of possession and territory and both David Marsh and Scott Durie had to clear efforts off the line, although Jamie Pollock’s long-range shot managed to find the target at the other end.
At half-time, Ferguson and Parker were introduced to the match and The Bully Wee had two early chances to score in the second half. Following a cross into the box that led to a loose ball, Marsh’s first time effort crashed off the underside of the bar before Parker was given a sight at goal but dragged his shot wide.
A low shot by Berwick substitute David Gold was then comfortably dealt with by Alan Martin and, during a scrappy end to the match, McManus found space at the edge of the box but his finish lacked composure and went high and wide.
The final whistle confirmed Clyde’s first 0-0 draw in competitive match since November 2011.
