Clyde and Partick Thistle shared eight goals in an entertaining Glasgow Cup group stage tie at Petershill Park tonight, with the Jags taking a bonus point after a penalty shootout.

Marley Redfern completed his return from injury with his first appearance since January as Darren Young rotated his side, as only three players from Saturday’s win at Stranraer started.

The Jags had an early opportunity through Alex Jakubiak but Andy Murdoch was on the line to clear the effort.

Clyde then took the lead in the 13th minute when a sublime through ball from Jamie Bradley cut open the Thistle defence, allowing Robbie Leitch to bare down on goal before finishing past Luis Cameron.

The advantage was doubled four minutes later after Kyle Connell won possession from Logan Dunachie’s long ball forward. He spotted Cameron off his line and beat him from a narrow angle outside the box.

The hosts pulled one back through Matthew Falconer, after he received a knock down from Terry Ablade following a cross into the Clyde box.

Bradley was then unlucky with a long range shot at an unguarded goal, but Cameron got back on his line just in time to save the effort.

Clyde restored their two goal margin within a minute of the restart. After some good work down the left, a pass across the box made it’s way to Conor Scullion, who placed a low shot into the bottom corner.

Steven Lawless hit the post as Partick Thistle looked for a way back into the game, and they reduced the deficit with a quarter of an hour to go through Che Campbell.

Within eight minutes they were ahead as strikes from outside the box by Thomas Horn and Campbell again saw the Jags lead for the first time on the night.

The Bully Wee then hunted for an equaliser and Cameron made a point blank save to deny Dom Docherty from a cutback.

The game was all square again in the first minute of stoppage time as Scott Williamson converted from close range in a packed penalty box.

The match then went to penalties for the bonus point; Thistle netted all five of their kicks whilst Tommy Robson, Taylor Sutherland and Connell were successful for Clyde, before Docherty saw his effort saved.

Clyde had already qualified for the semi-final stage before tonight and they will meet Celtic B for a place in the Final. The Jags’ bonus point took them through to the final four, where they will face off against Rangers B.
