Recap
The Bully Wee picked up their first cinch League 1 point since September with a late equaliser in a dramatic finale at Dumbarton this afternoon.
Danny Lennon made three changes to the team, with Barry Cuddihy, Ross Cunningham and Adam Livingstone all returning in place of Marky Munro, Kevin Nicoll and Paul Kennedy.
The match was played in difficult conditions, with heavy rain and a strong wind sweeping across the park. Aaron Splaine was the first to try his luck with a dipping shot from over 30 yards, which Sam Ramsbottom had to tip over his bar.
Ramsbottom denied Splaine again shortly after, before the hosts created their first chance of the afternoon, with Ross MacLean firing just wide.
Rob Jones then made an opportunity for himself after a run down the wing and a shot on target, but Ramsbottom was equal to it.
The Bully Wee found themselves playing into the wind in the second half but limited Dumbarton to few clear cut chances. The ball did drop to Paul Paton in the centre of the box but he placed his shot wide.
Pat Boyle then drove a low cross across the goal but none of his teammates were able to get a touch on it to turn it home.
Paton had another chance when he found himself through one-on-one with Neil Parry but the ‘keeper made an excellent block with his legs. The rebound fell to Eoghan Stokes, but he blazed his effort high over the bar.
At the other end a short free-kick was tapped to Ally Love and he sent a blistering low effort towards goal. The ball took a deflection off a defender but Ramsbottom was able to get down low and parry it away.
The Sons opened the scoring in the 89th minute. A corner was driven in and flicked on at the front post, before falling to Stokes at the back post and he converted from close range.
There was to be more late drama however. Barry Cuddihy charged forward down the right flank and released Gregory Tade, who got to the by-line and sent a cross into the goalmouth. David Goodwillie was in the right place at the right time, and bundled the ball high into the net to claim a deserved point for The Bully Wee.
