Clyde v Dumbarton

The Bully Wee’s recent slump continued, as Dumbarton picked up three points at Broadwood this evening, and leapfrogged Clyde in the table as a result.

Danny Lennon made seven changes to the side from Tuesday’s match at Firhill, with David Wilson, Tom Lang, Scott Rumsby and David Goodwillie being the only survivors in the team. 

There were limited chances in the first half, with Clyde most dangerous moments coming when David Goodwillie picked up Barry Cuddihy’s chip over the Dumbarton defence but his cut back was blocked, and seconds later Ewan Otoo saw his drive from distance go narrowly wide. 

The Sons took the lead with the last kick of the first half, when Nat Wedderburn got on the end of a Ross Forbes free-kick and nodded the ball past David Wilson. 

After the interval Goodwillie knocked the ball down for Cuddihy but his effort was also wide of target.

Dumbarton had chances to double their advantage through Adam Frizzell, and then Sam Wardrop fired into the side netting from outside the box.

The game began to open up in the closing stages as Clyde pushed for an equaliser. Goodwillie drilled a low free-kick past the post, whilst at the other end Wilson was called into action to save from Jaime Wilson.

A Sons defender then made a vital block as Goodwillie hit a goalbound shot from Mark Lamont’s cut-back, and in the final minutes several chances fell to Tom Lang, but he was unable to test Sam Ramsbottom with any of them.
