Recap
The Bully Wee suffered a second defeat in four days, and paid the price for a poor first half in Dumbarton this evening.
Danny Lennon made two changes to his side from Saturday, with Jay Henderson and Mark Lamont coming into the starting lineup. Kristoffer Syvertsen dropped to the bench as did Josh Jack initially, but he was brought back into the XI moments before kick-off after Ross Cunningham picked up a knock in the warm-up.
The hosts opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Adam Frizzell got on the end of a ball through the Clyde defence and chipped it over David Mitchell. The ‘keeper got a touch to it but couldn’t prevent it hitting the back of the net.
Ross Forbes then hit a free-kick narrowly over the bar, and Mitchell made a fine save to prevent Frizzell doubling the advantage, after he made space and fizzed a shot on target from the edge of the area.
Kristoffer Syvertsen was introduced at half-time and the Norwegian forward was a key factor in The Bully Wee’s second half improvement. He almost made an immediate impact, but his shot heading for target was deflected by a Dumbarton defender into the side netting.
Jay Henderson then saw his shot from a wide angle parried by Kevin Dabrowski, and the Polish ‘keeper also held a long range effort from Mark Lamont.
David Goodwillie benefitted from a fortuitous bounce of the ball and found himself one-on-one but dragged his effort wide of target, whilst at the other end Mitchell reacted quickly to save a snap shot from Ryan McGeever.
Syvertsen then forced Dabrowski into two further saves in the closing stages, firstly from a header and then from a shot which the stopper fumbled but managed to recover before any Clyde player could take advantage.
