Recap
The Bully Wee got their cinch League 1 campaign off to a poor start this afternoon, as Dumbarton took all three points after a 3-0 win.
Danny Lennon made five changes to the side from last Saturday’s game, with Mark Docherty, Scott Rumsby, Ross Cunningham, Ally Love and Robert Jones all coming into the starting line-up.
Clyde were a goal down after 11 minutes after Conrad Balatoni diverted a low cross into his own net.
The Bully Wee tried to hit back, and Ross Cunningham saw his curling effort from the wing hit the crossbar.
David Goodwillie then created a chance when he knocked the ball over the head of Gregor Buchanan and hit a shot towards goal, but Sam Ramsbottom was able to hold it.
The Sons doubled their advantage when Edin Lynch fired an effort towards goal which David Mitchell parried, but the rebound fell to Ross MacLean in the middle of the box, and he slotted home.
Aaron Splaine also came close at the other end, but his powerful drive from distance was just wide.
Buchanan almost made it 3-0 just after the interval when he got on the end of a free-kick, but narrowly missed the target.
Dumbarton did get a third goal ten minutes from time when a break down the left wing resulted in a cross making its way across the box to Conner Duthie, and he rifled the ball into the corner of the net.
