Recap
A strong second-half response saw Clyde come back to claim another point on the road down at Galabank this afternoon.
The Bully Wee were forced into a solitary change to last week’s side, with Darren Hynes replacing the injured Barry Cuddihy, whilst new signing Lennon Connolly claimed a spot on the bench.
Annan started the game well on top and could’ve led within a minute of kick-off, when Timam Scott bore down on the Clyde goal. He got a shot away, but Jay Hogarth got down sharply to make a smart save.
The hosts did take the lead five minutes later, however. A corner delivery was defended poorly by the Clyde defence, and Aidan Smith was on hand to rifle home when the ball fell to him in the middle of the six-yard box.
Scott continued to be a thorn in The Bully Wee’s side and went close with two efforts, both of which cleared Hogarth’s crossbar. Darren Young’s men struggled to lay a glove on Annan in the first half and could’ve found themselves further behind before the break when Keith Watson’s looping header dropped mercifully onto the top of the bar.
A big reaction was required from the visitors in the second half, and it wasn’t long before a healthy travelling support saw one. Clyde immediately took control of proceedings upon the resumption of play and swiftly created a few half chances, without seriously testing home ‘keeper Charlie Albinson.
A trio of substitutions midway through the half renewed Clyde’s impetus, with an equaliser coming shortly after. A spell of possession saw a lofted pass into the home box kept alive at the by-line, and the ball was squared to the marauding Darren Hynes who produced a cool finish from close range.
The Bully Wee pushed hard for a winner in the time that remained, but couldn’t create any clear-cut chances. Substitute Kyle Connell came closest with a powerful drive from range, but in the end Clyde had to settle for a draw which extended their unbeaten run away from home to nine league games.
