Recap

There was a stalemate in today’s Ladbrokes League 2 match at Galabank, in a competitive but scrappy match played in bitterly cold conditions.

Danny Lennon made three changes to the team following last week’s cup match against East Fife, with Andy Munro, Darren Ramsay and Smart Osadolor coming in for Jack Breslin, David Gormley and the injured Kevin Nicoll.

A very tight first half featured little goalmouth action, with Clyde’s best chances coming within a minute of each. Osadolor’s volley from outside the box was pushed away by home ‘keeper Jim Atkinson and from the resulting corner, the forward had a great chance when the ball broke to him in front of goal, but he couldn’t get a clean shot away.

At the other end, Blair Currie was rarely in action, with a wayward shot by Ryan Sinnamon probably being Annan’s best opportunity before half-time.

Early in the second half, Ramsay saw his low shot cleared off the line, before Galabankies’ Rabin Omar missed the target from a good position in the box.

On 58 minutes, the referee had a big decision to make when David Goodwillie was brought down when he seemed to have a chance of going through on the goalkeeper. Only a yellow card was shown to Scott Hooper and the free-kick was hit powerfully by Goodwillie, with the ball skimming the top of the crossbar.

A few minutes later, confusion in the Clyde penalty box led to Martin McNiff handling the ball while he was on the ground, with the defender seeming to think a foul was going to be given. However the ref pointed to the spot, only for Aidan Smith to blast a really poor penalty kick way over the bar.

As the home side finished strongly, Ross Fergusson hit the outside of the post from close range, but the match ended 0-0 – the first time The Bully Wee have been involved in a goalless draw for nearly ten months.
