Annan gained revenge on the Bully Wee as they won the second of an IRN-BRU Third Division ‘double header’ at Galabank this afternoon, in a match that yielded few chances at either end.

Jim Duffy made two changes to the Clyde team that won at the same venue on Tuesday night, with Ally Park and John Stewart replacing Aleks Gramovics and Willie Sawyers.

The home side enjoyed a bigger share of possession in the early stages of the match but created little in front of goal and that theme was to continue for the majority of the first half. The Bully Wee’s best effort came when John Sweeney curled a shot from distance that hit the roof of the net.

However, ex-Clyde man Ian Harty broke the deadlock on 36 minutes with a scrappy goal. Following a long throw, the striker was grateful to see the ball break to his feet only yards from goal and he casually found the bottom corner.

Sawyers replaced an injured Marc McCusker at half-time; Clyde’s top scorer having not looked comfortable during his time on the pitch.

The second half followed mostly the same pattern for its duration, as Clyde tried to press forward but found it very tough to get in behind the hosts and create chances. Park came closest to an equaliser when his low shot from the edge of the box hit the post and bounced to safety.

The final whistle brought a frustrating afternoon’s football to an end, with the Galabankies taking a crucial three points towards their bid for the title.
