Clyde were forced to fight all the way against a side two divisions below them before disposing of Montrose and moving into the Scottish Cup fourth round.
Yet it seemed so different after the Bully Wee took the lead after eight minutes, when Gary Arbuckle forced the ball home from close range. Clyde were dominant at this stage but crucially could not carve out a second and had to contend with debutant Roddy MacLennan having a goal chalked off for offside.
As Clyde's second goal never came Montrose grew in confidence as the home side grew in frustration. The Third Division side began to show their skill and the Bully Wee twice called on ' Keeper Hutton to keep their advantage.
Finally Clyde eased their nerves in the final stages when Dougie Imrie scored a brilliant individual goal in the dying seconds. Imrie picked the ball up on the edge of his own penalty box, ran the full length of the pitch and with a quick one-two with David McGowan, he gave himself the time to fire the ball home ensuring Clyde's passage to the 4th round.
