Recap
Failure to take chances at one end, combined with sloppy defending at the other, saw The Bully Wee leave Meadowbank empty handed this afternoon.
Darren Young stuck with the same starting XI that earned three points at Stranraer seven days ago, as he looked to make it three wins in a row.
Clyde’s first chance of the game would come within the first ten minutes. A dinked ball from Martin Rennie allowed Scott Williamson to beat the Edinburgh backline and evade the diving keeper. However, Williamson struggled to get a clean shot away and it was cleared off the line.
Edinburgh would go a goal up minutes later. After a wide freekick was dragged back, the Clyde defence were unable to clear the ball properly as it bobbled throughout the box. It was eventually hit towards the goal, and while Jay Kennedy was able to make a low save, Ouzy See was able to pounce and immediately score the rebound.
As Clyde attempted to equalise, Tommy Robson ran forward and crossed the ball, which was narrowly saved by the City keeper after it got caught by the wind.
Clyde would see plenty of opportunities from corners as the first half progressed, with both Logan Dunachie and Dom Docherty having good chances that they were unable to convert.
Edinburgh City were able to make a quick counter-attack, evading challanges from both Craig Howie and Logan Dunachie. However, the final shot was dragged well wide.
Both Martin Rennie and Ross Lyon made great attempts from range, but Mark Weir was equal to both.
Sutherland showed tenacity as he chased a long ball and was able to shrug off Jon Robertson with ease, eventually able to get dipping shot away from outside the box. Weir was just able to get down and palm the danger away.
Clyde would have a good chance immediately after the restart. A defensive mess-up from Edinburgh allowed Williamson the chance to hit a shot towards goal, but it was blocked. Edinburgh City would break immediately after and a simple switch of play allowed Ouzy See ample room to blast the ball bottom corner.
The referee would award Edinburgh City a penalty after Jay Kennedy took out the man as he attempted to close down an onrushing attacker. Ouzy See took to the spot in an attempt to get his hattrick but was only able to blast the ball straight off the crossbar.
Clyde were able to get one back through substitute Kyle Connell. His freekick from 20 yards out sailed over the Edinburgh City wall and nestled firmly in the side-netting, the second direct-freekick scored in consecutive weeks.
Connell would have the opportunity to draw Clyde equal ten minutes later. After Marley Redfern jinxed his way through the opposition box, he was cynically taken down by two defenders. The referee immediately pointed to the spot and Connell took the opportunity. However, Mark Weir was able to guess correctly and dive to his right, just getting the ball to hit the post and cleared.
Ross Lyon was sent off a few minutes before time, after a collision with an Edinburgh player was deemed dangerous.
Marley Redfern was able to forge one more chance for Clyde, after running down the wing and pulling it back for the oncoming Leith. However, his shot was dragged wide.
