Recap

Clyde had to settle for a share of the points in Ladbrokes League 2 today, after a 0-0 draw against Edinburgh City at Meadowbank.

Barry Ferguson made one change to the starting line-up after Tuesday night’s cup win over Stirling, with Marc McKenzie replacing the injured Scott Ferguson. Scott Linton, Ross Perry and Scott Lochhead were also ruled out, with Ryan Finnie suspended.

In an uneventful first half, John Gibson was the first ‘keeper called into action when he came out to thwart a home attack in just five minutes, following a defensive lapse.

Then it was Clyde who threatened, when a good run and cross down the right by McKenzie produced a corner from which the same player brought out a fingertip save from home goalkeeper Stobie.

The rest of the first 45 produced little incident, with the home side keeping their customary formation of five across the back.

The Bully Wee threatened more in the second half but the chances were still few and far between. Peter MacDonald had a great chance to put Clyde ahead from a Gormley cross in the 70th minute, but his far post header brought out a point blank save from Stobie.

As the game wore on Clyde began to peg Edinburgh back, with MacDonald again going agonisingly close with a header.

In an attempt to force the play, Flynn was brought on for Higgins and young Aaron Millar also came on for MacDonald – a debut for the under-20s forward.

With virtually his first touch of the ball, Millar rose high to put David Gormley through one on one with the ‘keeper, but he again made a crucial stop to end a frustrating afternoon for The Bully Wee.
