Recap
The Bully Wee’s playoff hopes suffered a blow as they lost by a single goal at Central Park this afternoon.
Danny Lennon made three changes to the side, with Blair Currie, Ray Grant and Ally Love all returning, in place of Kyle Gourlay, Kevin Nicoll and Jack Boyle.
Jordyn Sheerin had the first effort of the day for the home side when he hit a shot from long range which narrowly missed the target.
Clyde’s first attempt came through David Goodwillie after he was found from an Ally Love header. Goodwillie hit a shot that looked goal bound, but Cowden defender Bryan Gilfillan threw his body towards the ball and blocked it.
Goodwillie then turned provider after a clever turn in the box and played in Love, whose shot was deflected behind for a corner.
Clyde came even closer from the resulting corner but Dylan Cogill’s header was cleared off the line.
In the second half the roles were reversed and Cogill had to clear an attempt from Ben Reilly off of his own goal line to prevent the hosts from opening the scoring.
Chris McStay then picked out Goodwillie with a cross-field ball and Clyde’s top scorer hit a powerful effort which David McGurn had to parry behind.
The only goal came midway through the second period after a Cowdenbeath ball into the centre of the box found Bradley Smith, who squeezed a shot past Blair Currie.
Clyde did have a series of set pieces in dangerous positions in the closing stages but did not make them count, as the home side held on to register their first win over The Bully Wee this season.
