The Bully Wee continued their good form with a dominant performance against Cowdenbeath at Broadwood today, as they recorded their fifth victory in a row.

Danny Lennon made a solitary change to the team that won at Berwick last weekend, with Jack Boyle making his first Clyde start, as Aaron Millar dropped to the bench.

The Bully Wee came close through Jack Boyle, after he was found from David Goodwillie’s cut back, but he fired his shot over the bar.

Barry Cuddihy was next to try his luck in a first half that had little in the way of chances. His curling shot, however, went just past the post.

Clyde were quick off the blocks in the second half and broke the deadlock after just two minutes when Boyle cleverly flicked the ball into the path of Mark Lamont, who then fed Goodwillie. Goodwillie almost lost his footing before receiving the ball but regained his composure to slot past David McGurn.

The visitors didn’t manage an effort on target during the game but Matthew McInally cracked a shot from the corner of the box onto the crossbar.

Goodwillie sealed the points after 69 minutes when he nipped in front of Scott Rumsby just inside the Cowdenbeath half to win the ball and drove into the box, where he was illegally stopped in his tracks by Jamie Pyper. Goodwillie took the penalty himself and confidently sent McGurn the wrong way, to score his eighteenth goal of the season.

The woodwork denied Goodwillie a hat-trick when Kevin Nicoll won the ball in midfield and charged forward, before playing in the striker, whose shot from close range bounced off the bottom of the post.

Substitute Adam Martin also had an effort on target late on as Clyde comfortably saw out the game to register their fifth league win on the bounce, a feat last achieved in 2004.
