Recap
Clyde were well and truly stung in their first cinch League 1 defeat at New Douglas Park as Alloa came up trumps in a six-goal thriller.
There were four changes from the starting eleven that lost in Edinburgh last weekend with Danny Lennon bringing in Andrew Rodden, Kurtis Roberts, Jordan Allan and Steven Thicot to replace Nathan Nyamsi Hendji, Liam Scullion, Euan Cameron and Peter Grant.
Alloa opened the scoring with six minutes on the clock as Neil Parry failed to deal with a drifting corner-kick leaving Rodden in pole position to convert and give the visitors the lead.
The action began to dry up with Clyde continuously attempting to push through a stubborn defensive wall in the hunt for an equaliser. As a result of that, they got their first real chance in the 19th minute with Morgaro Gomis pinging the ball to Allan in the centre of the box, only for the number nine to flash the ball wide.
Gomis was back in the thick of it minutes later as he caught onto Ross Lyon’s cross but he struggled to fully connect and the ball bounced off target. Allan then squandered a perfect opportunity for the Bully Wee in the 34th minute as he shrugged off Graham, however, he didn’t garner enough power and the ball rolled past the post.
Roberts then shoved the ball into Allan’s path, however, he slipped but not before squeezing the ball through which Hogarth collected with ease.
Clyde continued their domination of proceedings and reaped the rewards with the equaliser. Thicot played in Rodden who fired a cross into the box, which yet again reached the feet of Allan. The striker found his composure to rocket the ball past the ‘keeper as both teams went into the interval level.
The Wasps regained the lead seven minutes after the re-start as Sammon found space in the Clyde box and slotted a low shot past Parry.
Cunningham then met a high ball on the end of a volley, however, his effort missed the post. Meanwhile, Offord got on the receiving end of a free-kick for the visitors, but he misjudged his shot.
The Wasps added a third shortly after the hour. The Bully Wee were caught sleepwalking on the counter-attack which allowed Offord to drive forward unmarked and round the ball past Parry into an empty net.
Clyde were awarded a free-kick on the edge of the box as the match entered the final 20 minutes with Cunningham’s shot rolling off the roof netting.
Thicot was on hand for the hosts as the Bully Wee pulled a goal back in the 80th minute. The Frenchman’s header was blocked after he reacted from a corner, however, he recovered aptly to stick home the rebound.
The points were then sealed for the visitors in the 90th minute as McLean poked the ball past Parry after attempting to block Offord’s shot.
