Two second-half penalties from Dunfermline Athletic denied The Bully Wee all three points this afternoon at East End Park as Jim Duffy made his return to the Clyde dugout.

Duffy made two changes to the Clyde team, with Paul Kennedy returning from suspension and Jordan Allan also coming in, for Morgaro Gomis and Erik Sula.

The hosts had the first real chance of the afternoon when Craig Wighton met a cross from the left with his head but his effort came off the woodwork and bounced behind.

Clyde took the lead in the 23rd minute when Euan Cameron played through Jordan Allan in the box. The striker did well to maintain his balance and turn his marker, before poking a shot beyond Deniz Mehmet and in off the post.

The Pars had a chance to level not long after when a cross made its way to the unmarked Sam Fisher at the back post but his header only found the side netting.

Allan doubled his and Clyde’s tally ten minutes after his opener after capitalising on a defensive error following Cameron’s flick-on, and lashed the ball past Mehmet with venom.

Peter Grant then came close to adding another from a corner when he won his header but couldn’t put enough power on it.

Dunfermline had another chance shortly before the interval through Matthew Todd. His shot was saved by Neil Parry and then Steven Thicot got back to clear it off the line.

Parry made another vital block after Josh Edwards was through on goal after a one-two but remained big to turn the shot behind for a corner.

Allan had a chance for a hat-trick just early in the second half when he got on the end of Cunningham’s knock-down but sliced his shot and Mehmet gathered.

The Pars pulled one back from the penalty spot after Alan Muir deemed Cameron to foul his man, and Kyle Benedictus made no mistake from the spot with a powerful finish.

Ross Cunningham then got a sight of goal but his curling shot which looked like it was destined for the net was deflected behind by the body of a defender.

The Pars started to crank up the pressure but the Clyde rearguard stood tall, until Muir awarded another spot kick adjudging Liam Scullion in the defensive wall blocked a free-kick with his arm.

Despite this it was Clyde who finished the match stronger with a succession of corners and Olly McDonald almost won all three points with a powerful low drive in stoppage time but Mehmet sprawled and got a glove to it.
