Recap
The Bully Wee’s string of losses continued today, after throwing away a two-goal lead in the last half-hour at East End Park.
Danny Lennon made two changes to the side that faced Kilmarnock on Tuesday evening, with Craig Howie returning from self-isolation to replace Jamie Bain, and Matej Vajs taking over in goals from David Mitchell.
Clyde started the game confidently but it was the home side that had the first opening of goal. Declan McManus got his head to the ball after it ricocheted around the area, but it lacked power and Vajs easily held it.
Vajs denied McManus again shortly after but this time it was a far more impressive stop, after the striker got in behind the Clyde back-line and beared down on goal. The big Slovak however got down low to block.
The Bully Wee took the lead in the 35th minute when Ally Love got on the end of Ross Cunningham’s flick-on and shrugged off pressure from a defender to fire under the body of Cammy Gill and into the net.
The Pars almost went into the interval on level terms but Kevin O’Hara saw his header from a corner come back off the post, as Clyde took their narrow lead into half-time.
Clyde doubled their advantage eight minutes after the restart when Mark Lamont won possession and played a one-two with David Goodwillie, before rifling the ball high into the net with his left foot.
Dunfermline were handed a lifeline on the hour-mark when Vajs fouled a forward in the box and O’Hara scored with the resulting penalty.
Vajs pulled off another good stop to push Kyle Turner’s volley from distance behind for a corner, but he was beaten in the 87th minute when the hosts got in behind the Clyde defence again and Ryan Dow set up McManus, who rounded the ‘keeper to slot home.
The Pars then grabbed a late winner in the first minute of stoppage time. Turner’s floated free-kick into the box was flicked on by Paul Watson, and it slipped through the gloves of Vajs and trickled over the line.
