Clyde’s winless league run extended to seven matches after they conceded twice from winning positions in a four-goal thriller against Stranraer.

Ian McCall opted to make three changes to the side that faced Jeanfield Swifts a fortnight ago, with Alex King, Stuart Carswell and Kian Leslie favoured over Ross Forbes, Peter Grant and Jon Craig.

Stranraer were demonstrating the most intent during the opening quarter of the match with proactiveness inside the box. Robertson was blocked by a Clyde defender, before Williamson’s dangerous corner was punched clear by Leighfield.

However, The Bully Wee spurned the first clear-cut opportunity in the 23^rd minute as Leslie sent the ball past a cramped box and across the goalmouth, but Dunachie was unable to make the vital connection.

With the match reaching the half hour mark, the hosts were slowly growing into the game as they broke the deadlock in the 28^th minute. King fired a free kick into the the box, where Martin Rennie leapt up to rocket a header into the net.

Despite that, defensive woes were again exposed as the Blues equalised after 34 minutes. Clyde’s failure to maintain possession gifted the visitors a corner, which enabled Ross to meet Williamson’s swinging cross to header the ball home.

Clyde reclaimed their lead with three minutes remaining of the first period. A slip-up from the visitors allowed Leslie to pounce on the ball and drive up the park, which he slipped to Scullion at the edge of the box, who displayed technical prowess to nutmeg Budinauckas and drill it into the bottom right-hand corner.

The Bully Wee then went agonisingly close in the 59^th minute when Leslie paced down the right-hand flank and crossed the ball to Rennie in the centre of the box, only for his close-range header to go straight into the palms of the ‘keeper.

It wasn’t long before Clyde lost their advantage for the second time as the Blues pulled a goal back in the 64^th minute. Clyde were left floundering after Robertson squared the ball to the feet of Dolan from deep inside the box, who was placed it beyond Leighfield.

As the clock ticked down both sides had chances to claim a late winner; Ross’ effort from a corner rolled narrowly wide of Leighfield’s goal, whilst at the other end Leslie was unable to find the target from Dunachie’s cross.
