Recap
The Bully Wee let a two-goal lead slip at Broadwood this afternoon, as Albion Rovers came back to win the match and also clinch the League Two title in the process.
Barry Ferguson handed a club debut to under-20 defender William Robb, with Mark Roberts also returning to the starting line-up.
The first chance of the match fell to Mark McLaughlin, who saw his header cleared off the line. At the other end, Ally Love was able to find space for a shot in the box, but Alan Martin reacted well to save his effort.
As Clyde started to take control of the match, David Marsh missed the target from the edge of the box but The Bully Wee soon raced into a 2-0 lead thanks to two fine goals.
Brian McQueen scored the first with a header, after Martin’s quick distribution released Scott Durie on the right wing. The second was scored by Marsh, following an excellent run and cross by Steven McDougall on the opposite flank.
However, a soft goal before half-time brought The Wee Rovers back into the match, as Chris Cadden’s low shot deceived everyone and trundled into the bottom corner of the net.
Scott Ferguson replaced Roberts early in the second half and he soon had a great chance to restore Clyde’s advantage, but the winger couldn’t beat Neil Parry from close range.
As the half continued, the visitors looked the more likely to score and, after 62 minutes, substitute John Gemmell got his head onto a free-kick to make it 2-2.
Albion’s comeback was soon completed when Gary Fisher’s curling effort sailed in to the net and the Coatbridge men held firm to secure the Championship.
