Board Appointments

As we continue to prepare the club for our move home to Glasgow, we’re pleased to announce that some of the roles recently advertised have been fulfilled.

Following board approval, Clyde fan Ian Fitzpatrick has been appointed as Director for Marketing. Ian was previously at the Club as Associate Director back in 2020 and has more recently led the media and marketing teams at Stenhousemuir FC. He is also employed as Senior Marketing Strategy Manager for Buzz Bingo.

Alongside Ian, we’re pleased to welcome Steven Powell as Associate Director for Commercial. Based in the US he will take a strategic role, helping to drive commercial income.  Steve is a highly successful sales and marketing executive with over 30 years of experience in the professional sports industry. He is a former Commercial Director of Hibernian FC and has held senior executive roles with several Major League Soccer Clubs Including the Tampa Bay Mutiny, San Jose Earthquakes, New York Red Bulls and the Houston Dynamo where as Executive VP, he was part of small leadership team that led the construction of the league’s first downtown soccer specific stadium (20,000 seat capacity).  Under his commercial leadership the club increased total income over 700% in a six-year period. Powell personally secured new partner income exceeding over $25M, including three new shirts sponsorships.  His team was honoured as the commercial team of the year and he was personally awarded as MLS Commercial Executive of the Year for his efforts. 

Powell is now a Vice President of For Soccer, a soccer media and marketing company which operates the largest Hispanic soccer program in the USA and works with some of the world’s biggest brands including, Ford, Verizon, Allstate, Gatorade, Adidas and Chobani.  Powell leads the creation and execution of sales and marketing strategies that generate revenue and value for soccer fans, clubs, and sponsors worldwide

Club Director John Taylor commented:It’s great to see our team strengthened by deep knowledge and experience in critical areas of our business. The focus on digital media and marketing will give the club the capacity to expand beyond its traditional markets.”

Ian added:- “I am delighted to join the club in this role and aim to improve all aspects of marketing and media across the club, making it more appealing to both fans and partners. The relationships the club have to build at this level are vital and I look forward to the challenge of bringing supporters and partners closer to the Club.

“The media work has come on leaps and bounds this season, and I look forward to working with the team and build on the foundations and standards that have set.

“I’m acutely aware that I have joined the Club at a difficult time and will use my expertise and experience to support our relocation to Glasgow and help stabilise the club for the next generation of Clyde fans to enjoy.”

Steven said:- “I am proud to join the board and support the valuable work already being performed to stabilize the club off the park and provide the resource required to perform on the pitch and the community.  I also look forward to sharing information about some unique community based opportunities for fans and companies to support the club and the communities they live in.  The club’s story is one of resilience and perseverance and I am confident that with a collective effort we are capable of once again serving as a beacon for how to run a successful football club”
