Clyde 1-1 Queen’s Park
The Bully Wee and Queen’s Park played out a draw for the third time this season, with David Goodwillie’s second half penalty giving Clyde a share of the spoils.
Danny Lennon made one change to the team which took a point in Peterhead last Saturday, with Gregory Tade making his first Clyde start since 2009, replacing Owen Andrew.
Clyde had a few chances early on that fell to Robert Jones, but firstly his strike from outside the area was well saved by the keeper before he couldn’t get enough power on his header as he got on the end of Love’s cross just a few moments later.
The visitors then came incredibly close to taking the lead as Grant Gillespe looked as if he was found free at the back post, but Adam Livingstone was alert to get infront of the midfeilder and put the ball behind for a corner.
Both sides then struggled to threaten for most of the opening 45 minutes, until Docherty put a dangerous whipped cross into the box looking for Tade but the striker was just unable to connect with the cross.
The Bully Wee made a change early in the second half, when David Goodwillie came off the bench to replace Tade and almost made a quick impact as he dribbled the ball from halfway before he went down in the box after what looked like a foul but the referee waved play on.
Queen’s Park soon took the lead as a corner came in and found Michael Doyle in the box, and he directed a header towards goal which looked like it didn’t have too much power on it. Neil Parry dove across to make the save but collided with Aaron Splaine who was on the post and the ball ended up bouncing behind the two and over the line.
Clyde weren’t behind for long though as excellent link up play between Love and Goodwillie allowed the striker to charge into the box and take the ball past a number of defenders before being pushed to the ground. The referee pointed to the spot this time and Goodwillie stepped up and slotted the ball into the corner.
Goodwillie then had a chance to give Clyde the lead as he cut in fron the left hand side and unleashed a shot from the edge of the box, but the goalbound effort was deflected wide.
There was a chance late on for either side, firsty as Jai Quitongo was denied by the legs of Neil Parry who made a fantastic stop with his legs at the near post before a Clyde free kick was sent into the box and a header was directed towards goal but unfortunatly was straight at the keeper.
This was the last action of the game as the referee blew for full time and both teams shared a point.
