Parry Praises Team Character
Neil Parry spoke to the press after Clyde’s 1-1 draw against Queen’s Park on Saturday in cinch League 1.
Parry first gave his thoughts on the match overall:-
“At the end we had a couple of chances, Good hits a strike that deflects off a defenders shin so it felt at that moment that momentum was with us. All in all if I’m honest a draw is probably a fair result for both teams.”
David Goodwillie came off the bench to score the equaliser, and Neil praised the quality he brings to the side:-
“He’s well above this level, comfortably in the Premiership. He’s a top, top player and we’re lucky to have him and he was the difference for us today. He scored the penalty, but he also won it and created chances, it’s better if he’s starting but brilliant to have coming off the bench.”
The ‘keeper reflected on how Queen’s Park has changed since he was last there, with the Spiders now being full time:-
“Queen’s Park have changed a lot since I was there, I think it was around £6 expenses a night you got! They played excellent football, and I think they would have wanted to create a bit more but we more than matched them considering they’re full time and I think we did excellent.”
Parry was disappointed at how the Queen’s Park goal went in, after it appeared to come off Aaron Splaine after he saved the initial effort:-
“I didn’t think I could have held it, it’s just one of those ones that’s inbetween me and Splaine on the post. It’s frustrating that we king of get in each others way, I saved it and it just comes off him as it’s not got a huge amount of power in it.
“It’s one of those things that’s just a bit unfortunate but the boys showed tremendous character to dig in and come back to get the draw.”
