Soosiders Thriving!

All is well with the South Glasgow Branch of the club’s community football. After some six weeks of operation, things are settling down nicely with attendance figures averaging around twenty-two kids at the weekly coaching class on Friday nights.

Definitely a healthy start and the group are looking to continue to grow and prosper. The club plans to promote this initiative further in the coming weeks and months and the Rutherglen Reformer has already printed a good article.

Director, John Woods commented:-

“I’d like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the support of a couple of Clyde-minded groups. The Clyde Supporters AFC and the Clyde United Fundraisers (CUF) have both made much appreciated donations.

“The money from these two groups has been a major contribution to offset our start-up costs and were a big help in getting the Southside group off the ground.”

The mainstream operation based at Broadwood also continues to go about its business in a positive fashion. It remains a viable and healthy operation, due mainly to Peter Smith and his team of coaches.

Plans are being made to welcome the entire School of Football unit to Broadwood for Saturday’s Scottish Cup match against Montrose. There may even be a chance to see the kids in action on the turf…
