QoS 0 v 2 Clyde: Pat’s The Way To Do It!
A Pat Clarke double saw Clyde victorious against Queen of the South this afternoon at Palmerston.
A lively first half saw chances at both ends, with Clarke and Dave McKay both missing good chances to open the scoring and Willie McLaren hitting the post.
The Bully Wee scored their first away goal since September when Clarke (pictured) drove home the opener in the 55th minute, following a great pass by Chris Higgins and low cross by McLaren.
Queens pressed hard to get back into the match without creating many chances and Clyde started to threat on the break. An agonising moment for the away fans came when Clarke rounded the ‘keeper but saw his effort blocked on the line, McLaren’s resulting cross came back off the post and Paul Emslie’s follow-up shot was also cleared off the line.
However, Clarke did finish off another break after 83 minutes when he beat Jim Thomson again and curled a classy shot into the top corner.
This result moved Clyde to ninth place and within three points of sixth placed Ross County.
