Recap
The Bully Wee and the Lions’ Scottish Cup saga will continue on Monday night, following a hugely entertaining match at Broadwood this evening.
Clyde fielded what is believed to be the club’s youngest ever starting line-up. Connor Stevenson and Steven Howarth returned, while midfielder Kevin Higgins made the step up from the academy’s under-17 side.
The visitors started strongly again, with Callum Reidford having to be on his toes to keep the scoreline blank. As the first half progressed though, it became clear that the young Clyde side was growing in confidence and starting to look the more likely to find a goal.
There was a flurry of action just before the break as Livi’s Moyes was shown a second yellow card for a dangerous tackle on Howarth, before Higgins had a glorious chance to open the scoring with a free header that went just wide.
John McCormack’s men suffered a setback just after half-time as Joe Hamill’s flick gave the ten-man Lions the lead.
On 63 minutes though, the Bully Wee got a well deserved equaliser when Alan Lithgow met Willie McLachlan’s brilliant cross to the delight of the home crowd.
The match continued at typical cup tie pace all over the pitch, but it was the away side that almost snatched a win in injury time. Sub De Vita broke clear of the defence, but his shot came back off the inside of the post and into Reidford’s arms.
