Recap
A last-minute header by Gary McSwegan earned Clyde a much needed win over Livingston today.
The match was played in adverse conditions throughout, with high winds and a very wet pitch adding to the drama.
Playing against the wind, The Bully Wee were a goal down after Callum Elliot’s early strike and the task of coming back was made more difficult by the loss of three players to injury within the opening 25 minutes.
Neil McGregor, Pat Clarke and Dave McKay were all forced to leave the field, meaning John Brown had used all his available substitutes. Just minutes later, Mark Brown took a nasty head knock but decided to play on against the advice of the medical team and went on to have an excellent match.
Clyde’s determination eventually paid off in the second half, as Alan Trouten’s cross-cum-shot beat Pierre Martini at the near post before McSwegan’s late winner sealed a great three points.
Three of the injured players mentioned above were on route to hospital for scans after the match to assess the extent of the damage.
