Recap

Clyde let slip a half time lead this afternoon, as they suffered their first defeat of 2026 and likely a fatal blow in their League Two title quest.

The Bully Wee returned to a more familiar shape for the game against East Kilbride, with Mouhamed Niang, Robbie Leitch and Marley Redfern replacing Sam Campbell, Barry Cuddihy and the injured James Hilton. New signing Nathan Cannon took up a place on the bench following his arrival yesterday.

An entertaining first half saw both sides get into plenty of dangerous areas, with Clyde winning a lot of high turnovers and Kilby dangerous on the counter, but neither goalkeeper was called into action within the first half hour with an endemic lack of final ball plaguing the teams.

Not long before the interval, however, Clyde claimed what looked to be a precious lead. Redfern chased down a lost cause to win a corner which was swung in deep by Tommy Robson, with Logan Dunachie rising highest to nod home.

A poor start to the second half proved to be the game’s turning point, as the home side was briefly caught on its heels. Lewis Spence kept the ball in at the byline and dinked a ball into the middle of the area, where João Balde was waiting to head into the back of the net.

Goals two and three didn’t take long in coming, with Bobby McLuckie deceiving Niang with a drop of the shoulder before charging goalwards and firing across Jay Hogarth and inside the far post.

The result was put beyond doubt when a ball in behind the Clyde defence found ex-Bully Wee man Connor Young, who set himself before slotting the ball past Hogarth.

Young made a triple change and modified the shape as his team wrestled back control of the game and exerted everything in search of a recovery, but Clyde came up short in the end on a disappointing afternoon.
