East Kilbride v Clyde

Darren Young made a trio of changes from last week’s XI, with Logan Dunachie, Andy Murdoch and Taylor Sutherland all promoted to the starting line-up.

The first half was well-contested, with Clyde having the better of the chances. Marley Redfern and Sutherland both had presentable opportunities to open the scoring, but couldn’t find the back of the net.

There was to be a sting in the tail end of the half, as Clyde failed to shackle East Kilbride’s danger man. John Robertson cut in from the right flank and drifted past a couple of Clyde defenders before whipping a fine effort beyond Jay Hogarth.

The game’s flow turned within ten minutes of the second period, when Sean Fagan was the victim of card-happy referee Joel Kennedy and saw red after picking up his second booking of the afternoon.

Clyde soon made their man advantage count with a series of dangerous balls into the EK box. Many were repelled but, eventually, Kyle Connell produced a sumptuous delivery which was emphatically headed home by Dunachie to level the scores.

The Bully Wee continued to push for a winner but, in the latter stages, couldn’t quite produce a telling finish to clinch all three points. As the game approached added time, goalscorer Dunachie saw red after a second booking for a late challenge, and the match petered out from there as both sides lost ground to league leaders The Spartans.
