Comment
John was appointed Manager of the club in January. It's his first managerial role, following a very successful playing career and subsequent time coaching for which he is held in high regard.

The defender started his career as a teenager at Hamilton Accies and he soon became a first team regular, notching well over 100 appearances in a five year period. A spell at Dens Park then followed between 1984 and 1988, where he also claimed over 100 appearances as his standing as a talented and committed player continued to grow.

In January 1988 he was signed by Rangers, where he was to spend the rest of his career and turn into a fans' favourite. At the time of his retirement in 1996, "Bomber" had played 278 games for the Ibrox club, winning 6 league titles, 3 Scottish Cups and 3 League Cups.

John quickly moved into the coaching side of the game, taking charge of the Rangers Under-18 side in 1997 and then the Under-21 side in 2003, earning a reputation as top class coach along the way. He left Ibrox in 2006 and upped his interest in becoming his own man at a Scottish club.

John narrowly missed out on the Clyde job in the summer of 2007 after being on the shortlist for the vacancy at that time but was delighted to be given the chance to start his career in management at Broadwood later in the season.
