Jay rose through the youth ranks at Rangers, sampling SPFL football during loan spells at Alloa Athletic, Dumbarton, Queen of the South and Dunfermline Athletic prior to his departure in the summer of 2025.

Having come to the club early last season as a trialist in the midst of a goalkeeping injury crisis, the young ‘keeper turned in a stellar performance in a League Cup match against Stenhousemuir, and manager Darren Young moved quickly to secure Hogarth on a permanent contract. He soon established himself as first-choice between the sticks, continuing to impress and racking up an impressive 13 clean sheets in all competitions.

Jay moved on to Premiership side Falkirk in June after his contract expired, but he re-joined The Bully Wee on a season-long loan a couple of weeks later.
