Joint Response Group Update 02/10
The Joint Response Group notes the decision of the UEFA Executive Committee to allow the partial return of fans to UEFA matches, subject to local legislation, from next week.
The decision followed the successful pilot match at the UEFA Super Cup in Budapest on 24 September, and is based on the following considerations:
- The number of spectators will be capped at a maximum of 30 percent of the respective stadium capacity;
- The admission of fans and the capacity limit is subject to decisions by local authorities and legislation;
- No away fans will be allowed into the games until further notice; and
- The match organizers will have to adopt a safety protocol in the stadium.
While noting that the Scottish Government has postponed the introduction of pilot matches in Scotland, we have informed government advisers of UEFA’s position as we seek clarification on a timeline for the safe return or fans to Scottish stadia.
Scottish football is committed to playing its part in protecting public health but must also work to ensure our representatives in UEFA club and international competitions are not unfairly disadvantaged by the attendance of up to 30% of capacity of opposition fans.
